Rest In Peace, AZKen
From James Crossman, Webmaster of XtraTicket.com :
It is with a heavy heart that we share the news that our friend, and close family member, Ken Sasso has passed away. The details and news of arrangements will surely follow, but what is important is that we remember Ken for all he was, and all he did for our scene. Ken's contribution was selfless, and vastly appreciated by all of the Arizona Family. It would be impossible to account for all he did for all of us. He was probably the biggest fan of the Noodles, and he was their original webmaster. Ken recorded and archived many of Noodles shows as well as many Xtra Ticket shows. He wrote for Jambands.com, and other music webzines. In Ken's professional life he designed and maintained websites for Tie Dye Mike, Nita's, Sail Inn, The Loft and others.
At just about any show Ken attended, he tried to make them better. Sasso usually showed up at shows early - setting up light shows, his recording equipment, running the door, helping the bands or vendors set up... and at the end of the night he would help load out. He was always humble, generous, respectful and kind. He would lend a hand with out being asked. Ken was an integral part of almost every show in Tempe. Not only for the Noodles and Xtra Ticket, but for many, many bands. Ken was a good friend. He will be missed, his passing is a shock, and his absence will be hard on us for a long time to come.
From Mike Hanley - Founder of AZHeads and Intelligroove:
Ken was one of a kind - always ready to help and enhance our jamband community. I had the pleasure of knowing him after I went to my first local jamband show in Arizona, and I would see him at almost every show in Phoenix I would attend to for years after that. He not only played a huge role in archiving some of the best shows we put on as Intelligroove, but he would always help out in other ways- whether it was updating the Sail's website, arriving early to help out with load-in, or just being there to support us.
Ken was one of the most loyal and generous people I have ever met and he undoubtedly impacted hundreds - if not thousands - of folks' lives through his efforts in helping out with shows and being a great friend to so many of us.
My thoughts and condolences go out to his family & friends.
May the four winds blow you safely home, Ken.
From Jeff Eger:
Ken was very special to me.He authored my first website www.allamericansportsvision.com during the bombing of Iraq.We sat together in his home for hours getting my eye care specialties explained simply so it could be universally understood in a conservative state like Arizona.Ken was a passionate, creative, and an enthusastic innovator in designing websites for the individual who dances to a different drummer.Instead of putting a subtitle ,rehabilatation , Ken insisted I used the word, prehabilatation , as a more positive and less threatening word.I did because of his passion, insistance and intuition.I will miss him and hope he did not suffer.
